Akbar

[Abu al-Fazl ibn Mubarak](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abul_Fazl) (1551–1602), brother of Faizi, served as Akbar's principal court historian and became one of the most influential figures in Mughal historiography. He authored the [Akbarnama](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akbarnama) (History of Akbar), one of the most important works of Indo-Persian history and a touchstone of Persian prose artistry. Abul Fazl also compiled the [Ain-i-Akbari](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ain-i-Akbari) (Institutes of Akbar), an administrative manual that provided detailed accounts of Mughal governance, military organization, and cultural practices.

Akbar's Reign: The Golden Age of Mughal Persian Literature Begins

Akbar

The reign of [Akbar](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akbar) (1556–1605) marked the beginning of the most prolific period of Persian literary patronage in the Mughal court. Akbar established an imperial library containing over 24,000 manuscripts and became the foremost patron of Persian literature and learning in his empire. He appointed court historians and poets, commissioned major literary works, and created an intellectual environment that attracted scholars from across the Persian-speaking world. Akbar's syncretic approach to governance extended to culture, fostering a unique blend of Persian, Indian, and Central Asian literary traditions.
